The Balance of Life

You will be amazed to know that life is simply about balance. No not the standing on one leg, and trying not to fall balance. The balance of keeping to the routine and straying from the path, or in more abstract nature, the balance of order and chaos. This duality comes into play in every aspect of life. Although most people would think of religious context like Ying/Yang, the middle path, or good/evil. Yes those are key parts of this idea, and maybe I’ll get to them in this post, but for now I want to focus on the idea of duality in life itself.

The saying “Carpe diem” is famous for getting people to start living their life “more” or getting them out of their comfort zone. That’s great, but is it? I love the idea of living life to the fullest and taking every opportunity, but the problem is if you get too carefree you’ll start to lose the guiding light in your life. You need that security or you will never be able to prepare for emergencies or unexpected events. The same could be said for people who get too paranoid and prepared. You can’t live your life in a bubble with everyone around you running, having fun, and falling scraping their knees. YOU NEED that pain, that surprise, or life will be like a flat road, wouldn’t you rather have a roller coaster? The fun ups and downs.

So the point is, balance is key. Not too much carefree that you are not doing anything with your life, and not too caught up with preparations that you forget the very things in front of you.

Just earlier today I was playing the new remake of Majora’s Mask, for those of you who don’t know it is a game where you have to repeat the same three days over and over, and doing different things each time (like dungeons/bosses). In order to complete it. Sort of akin to the movie Groundhog’s Day. Both of these got me to think “What if today kept repeating, what would I do differently, and why am I not doing them now?”. Its a crazy thought too because maybe a decision you make on one of the repeat days completely changes your life (like you met the girl of your dreams, or dream job). If that opportunity is there in the first place, why are you not taking it?? Are you too embarrassed? Too timid, or too busy? Those should not matter, “too busy” really? Why don’t you stop watching tv, stop reading 50 shades of grey (TM), etc.

A lot of this is common sense when you think about it, but like most common sense people don’t think of it. It is just a thought until someone writes it down. Be that person to write it down, I know I’m trying to be with this blog. Speaking of which I wanted to formally congratulate “Kaos” for joining our writing team as an author. Every once in a while he will write a post that truly inspires him, or that he thinks works with the United Living Construct’s mentality.

Thanks for reading everybody and welcome Kaos!
